The Simpson Center for Urban Futures within the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning supports the integration of visionary and interdisciplinary urban studies into curricula and provides a range of opportunities to further the urban planning and architecture programs. It includes a permanent space at UC’s 1819 Innovation Hub and houses the Orville Simpson Archive.
In addition, the Center promotes research, discourse, and dissemination of knowledge for the future of urban communities and provides scholarships, fellowships, and opportunities for faculty and students to study issues around sustainable living.
Part of that work lies within the Urban Futures Collaborative, a university-wide initiative to conduct research and teaching in areas of race or racism, social (in)justice, educational inequalities or access, health disparities, urban housing, poverty, policing, and other topics that speak to the challenges facing cities and urban living.
